George Clooney is Officially Married
Everyone is talking about George Clooney’s marriage and I have to as well because like so many women I’m happy for George but devastated that he is now off the market. George was my celebrity crush for many years. I will be buying the Vogue edition just to see the Wedding pictures and I don’t buy magazines.
George Clooney is married. The perpetual bachelor has met a beautiful, intelligent younger woman. He always dated younger women, he’s never dated women his own age. This is the man who vowed, for close to 20 years, never to marry again because his first marriage to Talia Balsam from 1989 – 1993 didn’t last. He was 28 when he married her. They were only dating for a few months before they drove to Vegas and tied the knot. They did stay married for 4 years. Maybe George was too young to be married at the time, he did tell Vanity Fair, “I probably–definitely –wasn’t someone who should have been married at that point. I just don’t feel like I gave Talia a fair shot.” Every time he kept saying he would never marry again I felt badly for Talia, like it was some horrible time in his life.
I remember watching George on shows like The Facts of Life and Roseanne. When his career took off on ER, which I didn’t watch,and he became The Sexiest Man Alive women went crazy for him. Thats when his love life became fodder for the entertainment shows and magazines. Even Barbara Walters got in on the question of whether he would ever marry again.
He never brought women to award shows. Then one day he was in a small motorcycle accident which was photographed. He was with a Las Vegas waitress Sarah Larson. Today she would be 35. After that photograph their relationship was outed. The 29 year old Sarah was taken to the Oscars. I’m sure that blew her mind. They stayed together from 2007-2008. However, shortly after she moved into his Los Angeles home, they talked about marriage he abruptly dumped her. She was devastated and moved back to Vegas. George ran off to his Villa at Lake Como in Italy for a boys retreat.
Then George started dating Italian actress and showgirl Elisabetta Canalis. Elisabetta is 36, the exact same age as George’s wife Amal. That relationship lasted 2 years ending in 2010. I remember seeing them at an awards show. I was watching online, I think it was a green room for ppl who were presenting. Elisabetta was sitting on a couch and George was standing talking to someone. I will never forget what I saw. She reached for George’s hand, I don’t know if she wanted him to sit down or what, but his response spoke volumes to me. He was so annoyed, he quickly pulled his hand away and gave her a look. I thought, this relationship is ending soon. I know that Elisabetta was at the Canne Film Festival alone that year, George wasn’t there. After seeing his response to her at that awards show, I knew they were done.
Next George dated Stacy Keibler, American WWE Wrestler and actress. 5’11” 34 years old. He took Stacy to all the award shows. She was definitely arm candy for George. She looked beautiful in designer gowns. They looked good together, but they didn’t look right as a couple. Something was just off. They dated July 2011 and to July 2013 2 years.
Then George Clooney met Amal Alamuddin, a British human rights barrister around October 2013 within less than a year they were married. Talk about being smitten. This is a woman who refused his phone number and he communicated with her by email at first. She obviously knew his reputation with women.
When the photos of George and Amal in Africa came out, I thought, this is different. This is not the same for George Clooney. When Amal came out in her fuchsia coat in New York city, I thought Oh My God she is so beautiful. So exotic. Here is a woman so accomplished, so educated, so beautiful, who can speak 3 languages and is more accomplished than George in the world of Human Rights. George Clooney had met his match in Amal. When I see photos of George look at this woman love oozes from him. I never saw that from him in any of the other relationships. He holds her as if she can break yet she is much stronger than he is. Its amazing to see the gentleness that George takes with her. Mrs. George Clooney is absolutely is amazingly beautiful. I can’t wait until they start having a family. I hear that Amal’s father said the same thing at the wedding dinner.
I don’t think of this as Amal Alamuddin snagging the most eligible bachelor lucky her, I think wow, lucky George Clooney, you had to close the deal fast. This woman has so much clout in world politics she brings George onto a higher playing field in Human Rights. Congratulation Mr. and Mrs. George Clooney may you have many days of happiness.
The only thing that bothers me about this is that men like George Clooney have to date women close to 20 years younger than them. Is it because they don’t think women their own age are beautiful or attractive any more?
